Who is PCK

Performance Canoes & Kayaks or for obvious reasons better known as PCK was formed in 2006 by Justin Hocevar, a long time paddle sports enthusiast. Initially PCK begun when Justin was seeking a new K1 and purchased a VAJDA directly from the VAJDA plant in Bratislava. The first Vajda Supersonic 202XL was air freighted back to Melbourne. Shortly after that, with some interest in the brand, Justin formed a relationship with Vajda to become their exclusive Australian distributor in flat-water products. At this stage Vajda was little known amongst the general paddling community and much time, effort and money was invested in bringing some profile to the brand. After establishing Vajda, the next step was to bring other brands on board. The mandate was to always select high quality brands with a performance edge or focus and obviously reputable organisations that were reliable business partners. First was G’Power with their range of high quality and technically advanced paddles. Then, with time brands like ELIO, PLASTEX, SIPRE, SELECT and ultimately STRUER joined PCK as their trusted agent in Australia and some cases New Zealand. To remain commercially successful and in turn provide customers with the service and choice they deserve PCK decided to bring some recreational brands on board. Whilst this initially didn’t appear to be aligned with the company’s general ethos and focus, it actually served to be most complimentary and perfectly aligned. PCK partnered recreational canoeing and kayaking companies like NAUTIRAID and SEA EAGLE, both being well established and successful brands that whilst operating in the recreational segment of the paddle sports market, where still performance oriented. Performance was met in terms of the equipments ability relative to its design, materials, functionality, quality, reputation and general product substance.

In 2010 PCK’s relationship with Vajda came to an end, after 4 years and many new Vajda products (Supersonic, Accelero, Civet Cat, Infusion, etc) entering the Australian market and many happy PCK customers. Sadly in business not everyone can be trusted. However PCK elects to partner brands whose ethics are as robust as their products and the broad range of some of the world’s oldest, highest performing, iconic brands (PLASTEX, STRUER, ELIO, SIPRE, G’POWER, SELECT, NAUTIRAID, SEA EAGLE) is testament to the strength of these relationships.

PCK is actively involved in supporting paddle sports, from sponsoring events, supporting athletes with equipment, providing equipment for national level competitors, fund raising and other initiatives to help develop the various canoe & kayak sporting disciplines.
